The Trail
I travel alone along the empty trail,
many have tried, and many have failed.
For this trail is full of difficult crossings, terrain, and peaks.
Mountains as high as the heavens, and the wood it bends and creaks.
I've been through hell and back already, and have come to my final climb.
It's a mountain taller than the eye can see,
and it's filled with much difficulty.
It's like the entire trail, but packed into one,
it's my final climb and it's far from fun.
My trek is filled with misery, and defeat,
but finally I see a sign of relief.
The tip of the mountain, the goal of the climb,
I crawl to the top and what do I find?
A me, that should be happy and filled with glee,
a me that should be crying tears of joy and falling to my knees.
Everyone said I couldn't do it, the trail was tough, and long.
I defeated their words, but why does it feel so wrong?
I made it to the top! I did it, I'm here!
But why does does it bring sadness and not joy and cheer?
See, I made it to the top, but there's a part of me that's gone.
It's you, you're not here with me to watch this night become dawn.
It's a story of loneliness and what it can do to someone.
Even the strongest of men cannot be a joyous group of only one.
Yeah, you can make it to the top, the strongest man ever shown!
But what does it mean, if you do it alone?
You may not have known it, but that trail is life.
That mountain, those crossings, are the symbols of pain and strife!
Live together, or die alone. Some words of advice...
Learn that now, you will not get to learn twice!
If you feel alone, you don't have to live in fear!
Just speak up now and someone will hear!
Times may be tough, but there's no need to moan,
Hold your head up, you don't have to do this alone.
