Black or white All different in sight Despite our looks We all should have rights A generation long ago fought for freedom For others to read and know Laws now said, "you may go." Hatred persisted Life consisted Of abuse and division and new immigration Asians build east Irish slave west Women Suffrage Segregation A world conflict Treated as second class Still fighting for country But revolution stirred At las' Peaceful dissent Depicted as chaos Yet, Civil rights Climb to Forefront MLK had a dream JFK broadcast a scheme Now, Come together By Law or by Choice Years of struggling The hating still going Another group Another battle Gay, Muslim, Atheist Each a slog-battle for Acceptance from priests From their ancient lore A '60s movement Jump-starts it all Through changing government One day bigotry will fall
