Trail of Tears

I walk a path so hard and rough

With nothing close to protection from its hardships

Walking across this harsh and punishing ground

This unhappy road

The rocks digging away at my very flesh

They laugh at my futile attempts as I listen to their crackles shift upon the Earth's surface

I bleed leaving a trail of

Nothing, not even so much a speck of pride courses throughout my veins

I cry out in pain as I trip bearing rocks and glass shards deep withing

Begging for help but recieving none

I get up and continue this path

There's a fork in the road

Yet I refuse to deviate from the path and continue along the straightest

The road behind disappears

I feel a rush as the ground beneath me falls into oblivion

Tired and out of breath after running from myself

My tears flow freely as they begin to hit the disappointed ground

Then it all becomes clear as I behind me at the nothingness

As long as my past controls me

My path to my future may disappear

And you'll always see my trail of tears
