Trailer Park Princess

Took the cigarette from strawberry lips,

called herself  beauty queen.

We all knew her momma could care less-

she said she didn't mind,

said she knew one day the rumbling in her stomach would subside

and she'd take a flight to New York where

Photographers would practically be clingin to her side

for a look at her in Calvin Klein

Spinning tales of riches and hotel parties and

her perfect jawlines

sittin' on the foldout steps of her trailer,  puts her arms out wide

"call me princess"

Sucking on her lollipop, dark, unruly curls trailing down her side

Folds of cash in the pocket of her stolen jeans

from gambling down at the reservation with the Indian boys.

We shake our heads at her purple lined brown eyes,

Stood outside the trailer, eyes wide until the hollerin within would subside

and her momma- too drunk to throw the silverware fell asleep on the sofa

She sits in the moonlight, crown of brambles in her hair

proclaims she hasn't a "goddamn care"

in the world

"You ain't never gonna get out of here alive Princess Pea"

She shakes her head and laughs,

"then you sure as hell don't know me."
