Transcendence

The time I spend with you in the half light When the star-scattered sky has not yet lost its dark and lonely battle of the night When dawn yet slumbers under pallid frost When your breathing is slow and sure and you are near and I forget that I am me When I believe the world is made of you (the breadth of you is all that it could be) When, if only for a moment, it seems The endless gasping cosmos holds its breath This is the time I know the truth of dreams You are infinity, my always, life and death
