Transience

Winter is the Earth in clever disguise, Tis a time when the three seasons retreat When the people dress in some sort of guise Resembling fat blobs, they stalk the streets Tonight on your porch that is poorly lit All that your two eyes set upon is white As if Earth was tucked in a white blanket The same one that mom tucked you in tonight And up until the last inch of snow melts Your mind revels in the happiest past You remember everything that you once felt And the last inch of snow melts at long last Now Earth happily removes its disguise Alas winter departs and dares not cry
