Translate the universe

With words, I

spoke everything out of nothing,

whispered life into the world,

named the spark that brought forth fire,

read art from dreams long gone,

yelled friendship from the abyss,

spelled forgiveness out of sin,

wrote eulogies to love letters,

echoed the hopes of those without them,

and sang myself into existence.

I translate the universe into poetry, and within it,

I find

          Maya

          singing

uncaged with the sheer splendor of our words.
