Trapped
You trap me in this box because I do not ‘feel’ the way you do,
‘See’ the way you do,
Or ‘hear’ the way you do
You tell me to “smile”
Or “be happy”
You say “it's gonna be okay”
When it’s not.
It ‘never’ was
Do you see now?
When I was a child,
I could ‘be’ whatever I wanted
Dream ‘whatever’ I dreamed
And ‘say’ whatever I wanted to say
But now with ‘my’ problems
‘My’ errors,
And ‘my’ mistakes
I can't ‘be’ whatever I want to be
I can't ‘dream’ whatever I want to dream
I can't do ‘anything’
I'm stuck
Being someone who ‘isn't’ me
But is you
It’s just a copy and paste
You want me to be ‘perfect’
When I can't
‘No one is’
Sometimes I feel trapped
With no escape
Waiting,
To be freed from this plain cardboard box
Trapped
As im losing breath
Trapped
As you keep me here
Trapped
As i am stuck and cannot move
Trapped
As someone i'm not
Trapped
Hiding it
And when i try to break free
And speak
You ‘shoot’ me down as fast as a viper
Saying “you’re overexaggerating”
Telling me “calm down it's not that bad”
But do you really know that?
Tell me,
Do you really know that?
Or are you just guessing
Something wrong with this poem?
