Trapped
We
Are
Trapped
In a cage of our own creation
Tortured by devices of our own making
Killed by our brethren
Everything we do and say dragging us further in
Our words are like knives
Slicing through defenses made only to hold against memories
Turning friends into enemies
Love becomes hate
This world is being torn apart
From the inside, out
Piece by fiery piece, our land is turning into living hell
And nothing we can do will make us well
Is there no hope?
Are we, then, doomed to die with no chance of rescue?
No, not yet
There’s still a chance, for me and you
We can survive
We can weather the storm
We can rise up
Turning hate into love
Pain into joy
From suffering to salvation we will rise
But
We cannot do this alone
For there is no way to condone
The mess we have made
Only through forgiveness can we hope to make it through
Though not just any will do
We must ask forgiveness of the One by which it began
Only by his grace will we rise again
Through his love
And by his power
Even if we are to die
Nothing will change the fact that
We
Are
Free
