Trapped in glass


She had long since given up,

given up on escaping,

given up on living,

given up on the world.

When she was a little girl, she wanted nothing more than to escape her thick glass prison.

She desired a life of living,

and she grieved for her loss of the world.

Then, she was a young woman,

ready for expectation and hope of a rescuer,

a knight is shining armor,

but no one ever came.

No one came to help her escape,

no one came to help her live,

no one came to help her see the world.

As she aged, the more hope began to leave her.

Then, she was a middle aged woman, not knowing what to do with herself.

She still longed for that life she knew she could never have,

but one can only dream.

As the years went by

she aged into an old lady,

the wrinkles on her face rooted deep

into her skin.

All hopes of leaving her glass prison were long gone,

all wishes of seeing the world,

all prayers of wandering outside,

all questions of exploring

were gone,

leaving nothing

but...
