Trash and Treasure

We're in the car

This is the last time we'll be here

I want to know why I should put up with this, with you

"Because I love you" you declare

Why should I want your love?

You hand it out like pamphlets to everyone you meet

It has no meaning

So why should I want it

You can't treasure trash

I certainly won't

You're trying to convince me it's treasure

I know it isn't

Why do I keep doing this

I let you in and you give me your drama, your garbage

You expect me to hold up what I cannot

So why do I do it

Because you love me

Or so you say

I might've believed you in the beginning

But you've proven me wrong too many times

You dreg up tears, you yell, scream, threaten

Really, it's the real you now

Not hiding behind the facade of love

This is who you really are

I'm sorry that I don't love you

But how does one love the thing that hurts him

I know not

But I know I don't love you
