Traveling into the Night

In an alternate universe I fly out my window with Peter Pan. It happened so sudden I didn't have time to think. As soon as he appeared in my window I knew who he was and what he wanted. How could I resist his charm and his persistence? I knew deep down that I could not. So I went. With my first leap out my window, promises of fulfilled hopes and dreams brush against my skin. As we fly across the starry sky I know in my heart that this moment in time is right where I want to be. The goals I have set for myself creep into my mind as the night passes on. As much as I try and try to push those goals out of my head I know I must go home. Not at this exact moment for I am enjoying every second of our flight. Peter Pan hardly says a word as we fly and I know it must be because he knows I have to go back. I say to him that I didn't want the night to end and he says to close my eyes. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep. When I wake I hear the sound of my alarm and I am sad for the night ended too soon. I wonder if it was even real. In an alternate universe I fly out my window with Peter Pan.

This poem is about wanting to take a break but realizing you have to get back to what you're doing at some point.
