Traveling Soles

I'm often asked where I will go,

And what I want to be.

I don't think people understand,

Expectations do not push me.

I can't be stifled in a room or town,

The walls cave in on me,

My soul is ravenous for distant lands,

My fingers itch to graze the sea.

Such as the wizened sailor,

Who has weathered waves and storms,

I am too aware of the waiting world,

That beckonds beyond my dorm.

With dreams that expand past buildings,

College cannot hold my heart.

It is only a stepping stone for a life of escapades,

It is merely where I'll start.

My soles will kiss exotic shores,

My eyes will devour new lands,

I can't live without the chance to leave,

Tremors overtake my hands.

Life will not whirl by,

While I watch it float on by.

I'm destined for adventure in unkown places,

Without it I may die.
