The Treasure of Friendship

If a thought crosses my mind,

I can share it with the one beside me.

If a question comes to consciousness,

I can dictate it to the group around me.

If a fear sparks in my eyes,

I can alleviate it as they comfort me.

All of them are all I wait for every day of work.

Each friend I hold dear,

Their company is my greatest treasure.

But if these friends faded away,

I am left with solitude within me.

If these companions abandoned me,

I only have the fear of all that is around me.

If there were no one to speak with,

I would be filled with the shadows strangling me.

No one to confide in, no one to spend time with.

Every day becomes a battle,

To not hate the deficit inside my heart.

But, as I know my friends are loyal still,

I trust and care for all of them,

To be what they are for me.
