a treasure worth more

some things you cannot live without

it’s like an incurable addiction

we fight on and on to keep them close

but they just slowly slip away

into the abyss of what we call society

we are always self absorbed

never realizing what we needed until it was gone

until it was taken away

another photo, another post, another status update

we feel like we’re connected

but we’re just growing apart

what i need more than anything is a friend

a person i treasure more than diamonds or wealth

someone who won’t just be another “thumbs up”

someone who can be deeper than all the oceans of this world

and someone who can stick with me through all the rough times

some things you cannot live without

and though others might see it as some disease

i’ll keep on fighting

to keep my friends close to me
