Tree

people will come into your life

they will put on a pretty smile and convince you into believing that every little detail you never liked about yourself is the most beautiful thing in the world

they will build your confidence

break your walls

build your trust

they will tell you they're in love with the way you're eyes sparkle

in love with the way you laugh every time your puppies kiss your cheek

and then they will leave

without an explanation

without an apology

without a goodbye

without you

everyone leaves.

even the leaves from my branches

because I am a tree

Tall, strong enough to stand on my own

in a forest, one of a kind

Spend one day around me and you'll never forget my scent

Years down the road even one thought will bring back memories of my beauty

although, life was the termite

it thew challenges into my days without warning

it took parts of me I will never get back

it left me tired, small

making me feel like nothing but a stump

but with time

weeks, months, years

I will grow

I will stand tall once more

I do not need anyone,

i am independent

i am smart

I am strong
