A Tree Of Dreams

I thought I knew

The meaning of happy

For I just got

$1,000 of money

But what to do

Oh what to do

Did this money grow on trees

Well it did for me

So I shall get a T.V.

Or maybe a new PC

After all

College is far

And life is fun

There's nothing to worry about

Just as long as there is a sun

A sun to guide, a sun to lead

In the form of parents

Yes indeed

Perhaps a gift will be good

To thank them for their work

So I ask them simply

For their greatest wish

And they whisper to me

"A great life for my baby."

I look to them

Memories through my head

From when I was young

To today early in bed

And I say to them

Eyes full of tears

"I will make you proud one day."

"And that's a promise I will never forget."

So I take the money

And drive to the bank

I run inside

And slap it on the desk

The banker stares

Eyes with a strange expression

He looks at the money

Then looks at me

Tears well up in his eyes

And he smiles at me

"You made a good choice." he says

"The choice I could not make."

"This goes to college then, young man?"

"Without a doubt." I said

I walked out

And looked at the sun

A briliant ball

Falling out of the sky

But a new sun would rise

The coming day

And it all started with $1,000 pay
