The Tree of Trials
The wind blows through the trees,
With such a warm, magnificent breeze.
The ground lay covered in a blanket of frost,
Covering the land of all that is lost.
Now, the tree stands tall and bends towards the light,
But the smaller trees hide beneath it, under its powerful might.
They need not back down and shrivel in fear,
But stand together with all that is near.
For many together glow like coal,
And the one who stands alone will surely grow cold.
When times grow cold and consume all life,
The trials ahead will pierce their hopes like a knife.
The luscious, green leaves soon fade to brown,
And the tree fears that like the leaves, all its hope will hit the ground.
Winter is coming and death is around.
The air is bitter and all life is without sound.
Slowly and coldly the months pass by,
Now the mockingbird is without a cry.
It seems like the darkness will never end,
And death will slowly creep its way in.
But the tree knows that spring will come soon,
Even though it doesn’t even feel like 12 o’clock noon.
The breeze slowly gains a hint of warmth, as buds start to clothe the trees,
And before you know it, spring is here, with all of its blossoming blossoms and buzzing bees.
The trees celebrate this new life
By flaunting their flowers of pink, yellow, and white.
The birds sing their song of joy, and deer prance around with glee,
But just in case you did not know, this poem was never about a tree.
You see, times get tough and hard to bear, but the good Lord above will pull you through.
After all, He gave his own son a cross to wear, so that he could share His kingdom with you.
So push through that storm because He’s actually carrying you through,
And when you feel like giving up, remember that it’s now half past noon.
It seems like forever when the waves keep crashing in,
But if you follow Jesus’s tracks in the sand, this marathon you will surely win.
Because his love is wider than from the west to the east,
He will carry you through even when you don’t believe.
Because of who He is, I am all in,
And I know He’ll be with me always and forever, amen.
