Tree Trunk Sleep

Takes a determined hand to reach

through muli-ringed tree trunks crowded,
as crowded as my head, I trust
that I will never ever see war-
As clearly as I see you crack
the doorway, you sleep like you invented sleep.

I do wanna know you'll sleep
don't you dare let go, I reach
hands, two of them. They fight,
joke that one is stronger it's crowded
in sheets tangled my favorite war
was telling you, I trust I trust I trust.

Because of the times, I don't trust
dreams always happen when I sleep.
Some little phone calls, says war
can (eleven thousand six hundred and eighty) reach
us and all I can hear is tree rings, crowded
they ring true in what they say, don't fight.

Grandfather, you mathematician, I can only fight.
He smiles says No, it rings true, he is trust
for me. His home is so full, room crowded
with the stumps of every mattress he's known sleep
in. I wake in one, and to that photo of his old wife, I reach
if only to reach- on the back, carved no more war.

I'll never be a mathematician. Doesn't mean war
can't be solved by a math equation that can fight.
Luscious opal sand and tree's reach
out and up, Dahli never captured an elephants trust,
but I bet elephants still like his painting. Paint me sleep
to sleep away sleeping dreams that feel so crowded.

The gentleman's dilemma comes crowded
with the past. I come crowded with not war
with not peace, something puts me to sleep.
So in case you were wondering, I still care to fight
for the poem, for the one I really wish I was with. Trust
that I can find you, I can find your heart, mind. Reach.

Tree stump sleep, even if stump has crack.
A head that's crowded, dreams no war.
Tiny bits of trust, for you, we reach.
