The Tree's Lament

Thu, 04/28/2016 - 10:51 -- Peremi

The trees drooped

Their leaves hung

The branches stooped

The wind sung

The boy’s love

Was climb trees

Others had hands in a glove

While he avoided bees

The trees drooped

Their leaves hung

The branches stooped

The wind sung

One day, the boy climbed

He neared the top

He could hear Heaven’s chimes

He never wanted to stop

The trees drooped

Their leaves hung

The branches stooped

The wind sung

The bark was damp

His soles were worn

His thigh got a cramp

His mother prepared to morn

The trees drooped

Their leaves hung

The branches stooped

The wind sung

His foot slipped

He screamed in surprise

The boy’s life had been snipped

The Fates planned his demise

The trees drooped

Their leaves hung

The branches stooped

The wind sung
