Trepidation

A stone sinks to the pit of my stomach while intestines wiggle and squirm Sweat pools in my pores as blood rushes through the valves and chambers of my heart Something is coming The fiercest nightmares pale in comparison Spiders flee in the presence of this entity Ever moving, slowly encroaching It comes Without end or halting It comes Unwanted but necessary The change comes All fears and worries contained within All accomplishments and accolades Are sights yet unseen There is no avoiding or subverting The future
