Trials of an Artist
You ever had a time in your life
When you thought you found true happiness
That one moment that you thought would last forever
Until... it breaks before your eyes
Only pieces of what was once there lie at your feet
Feelings of pain and sorrow clouds your mind
Only to just remember that it's gone
They call it Death at its worst, pure torture and agony
That plague us in our deepest nightmares, just to relive again and again
But this "thing" was given another name
Life at its very beginning and is found when our eyes finally open
A test, if you will, to see what all you can withstand
When it happens, your true emotions are shown through feelings of loss Helpless, for watching it being destroyed in front of you
Depressed, for knowing it will never return to you once more
Even angered, for what caused it, either something or someone
Better yet, accusing yourself as the one who let it fade away from you
Understand that these emotions may not be positive or easy to get through
But we must cope with them, no matter how
For happiness is made as a glass work of art
A masterpiece unique only to the artist that makes it
For only they know how to make it their own
However, an artist must decide that if it should break
Should they cut their hands with the shattered pieces of their art,
The same hands that gives the artist a gift to craft such beauty in their image,
To try and rebuild?
Or...should they look to build another and sculpt it just as great as the one before?
My friend, I cannot make that decision for no one, but take it from me
An artist is gifted with hands to create wonders
Never to fix what was broken because it won't become as beautiful as it were before
Unique only to your heart and reflects the newfound emotions
So become the artist you wish to be and capture your own happiness
For it does exist and always will, whether you see it or not
But appears only as fragile..
Just as the glass you sculpt it with.
