Trip Down Memory Lane
Where is the guy I knew?
Who would email me letters in Palma’s—
When I was sitting right next to you?
That would sneak to the fourth floor with me on Sundays,
Or purposely be behind me the whole time water polo was played?
Where is the guy I knew?
That would Skype me every day while he was away,
We were counting down the ninety-four days.
Who specifically told me he was serious this time
And I was so happy that you’d finally be mine.
Where is the guy I knew?
That was my best friend for eight years,
You’ve seen more than my vulnerability and tears.
I sat there wondering why communication paused,
Now, two months have gone by and I’m sitting here lost.
