The True Cinderella

Once upon a time lived a beautiful presence

this is her life a story just 18 years in the making

a form, a human, a life

that wasn't meant to be that grew against all odds the one that until now no one knew was me

life through my eyes would scare a Square to death..

poverty, pain, struggle, and violence, and never a moment to rest

but this is the story of Cinderella

it will be heard free of deceit

you have the honor of front row seat

welcomed privately and silently into a world rooted in hate

soon becoming just another number

another file looked at and dropped into a crate

early on, before she knew herself, she lost herself

lost her hope

just another lost person, a dusty book added to the shelf

the very things that defined her disappeared

she lost ‘everything in its truest sense, nothing left but her mere existence without a place to call home

she got so used to the changes, moving from place to place

and she never really settled down moving from town to town

destiny took control, sat her down in a home full of pretty smiles and deceiving laughs

a lonely child with unanswered cries

avoiding the stares of uninterested eyes

she cried out to the skies

she never had everything, in fact she was always left with nothing

except a dream of a better day and the hope that someone would help her find her way

pain and struggle, hate and evil

lead the wicked to prowl on the innocent

the unknowing

the curious and oblivious

she had a front row view just as you do, took the best of seats and began to see

how greed sprouted like a seed in the cold hearts of those who

from the haunting in their souls weren't yet let free

fighting hard with all her might only to be scratched by the

painful claws of reality she surrendered to hers, to the evil that

screeched the shrieks that exploded, shriveled, and invaded the mind

the monsters that swirled, whirled, twirled, and roamed there

barely and rarely phased though because in the mind, body, and heart is

where the worst was born and bred

her tears, they fell with passion like tears conceived from stars full of brightness and energy

only seen from afar

she often yearned for a different life but never took for granted the one that she had

her experience was challenging in its own sense

but compared to the awful lives of others hers was never so bad

no love, no money, no chance and no guide she only followed her voice inside

she never gave up and she held her head high

for this she will always and forever take pride

her cries to God, her prayers, and Faith

led an Angel from Heaven to guide her and keep her safe

chosen and transformed, her pain and struggle had finally paid off and

the ones that told her she’d never amount to anything and wouldn't make it could do nothing more but sit back and scoff

finally reflecting her beauty inside, the mirror spoke

and her smile never stretched so wide

it's a wonder what love and support can do

if even for my heart it can heal, what do you think it can do for you?

But let me finish her story because it hasn't yet been told

I promise it's worthy

so keep that call on line one stuck on hold

off she went  to face her fate

danced all night filled with joy and stayed up late

but duties called and she had to return

and of the tears that fell, they stung and burned

on her way she left a piece of herself, like the lying body in the casket years earlier

she scurried off and hurried home, showered, dressed, and charged her phone

the next day she woke and her blessings had materialized

the glass slipper which was invisible to the eye

my heart searched and searched blinded

but discovered a chance, an opportunity sent from above

we all need a head start to achieve our dreams

a little nudge, a little shove, and i should let you know that

the clouds of doubt have made me blind to the possible ecstasy my heart could find

but I went ahead and let you know and

hope continues to rise like bread feeding me energizing me for tomorrow

where people tell me that my experience holds no significance

i'll continue to strive and ignore the ignorance

now that my story is out

and what's happened so far has been told

all fairy tales are myths exposed

pain and struggle, hope and resilience magnified

but finally the deceit that was sold and my truth have been discovered

eternally my mind will produce ways to put my talents to use

and i will learn, gain, or win but I can never lose

this is my story and it's the real and true Cinderella for you..
