True Colors

Colors of the rainbow,

Behind her dark, sad eyes.

Pride for a community she can't claim,

What a way to live.

"Dyke." "Fag." "Queer."

Kids yell. Teachers try to calm the roar,

But they silently laugh along.

Blood boils, ignorance is around every corner.

She wears a mask that mirrors her peers.

Terrified of the bullies both of equal standing and beyond,

So she shrouds hrouds herself in the dark, hidden.

Never feeling comfortable to share pride at school.

Never showed the world how beautiful she is.

Scarred.

What a way to die.
