True Definition

On the day of my first college tour My dad turned to my mom and said, "Can we go instead?" You see, neither of my parents went to college They would have maybe If it wasn't for me, their newborn baby Both of them got jobs at a young age Like a bee supports its hive My parents kept all five of us alive I don't know where I'd be without them They've taught me right from wrong, good from bad, love from hate I'm sure your parents could relate My parents' work ethic has always been their most noble attribute For my brothers and I they come home late For my brothers and I they put food on our plates They've inspired me more than anyone else ever could I have worked hard in school every day Just like them, I want to earn my way I yearn to go to college and make a name for myself With a degree There's no telling what I could do for my future family It is impossible to measure the fire they've put in my heart To be the best that I can To show the world all that I am My home is filled with the love of a thousand generations No amount of money could ever surmount Or even come close to this amount My parents are the true definition of a successful life They've faced many hardships they've always overcome They're the epitome of what I hope to become
