True Love <3
Does true love even exist?
If it does then I think I've felt it,
Yes,
Once when I was in third grade,
It was Valentine's Day and so we were told to make cards for our loved ones,
My crush turned around and looked at me,
Now that I think back,
True love had bad skin,
true love had braces that blinded me,
True love had a haircut,
true love wore nice clothes,
True love was taller than me,
true love was one shade lighter than me,
And as true love turned around and looked at me
I froze,
And couldn't think of how to articulate words or even what the word "word" meant at that point,
True love put me at a loss for “those things that go in sentence”,
As true love spoke,
True love had a raspy voice,
true love was going through puberty,
true love was only half way done,
And true love said "hi, you're really pretty",
True love was nice,
True love gave me his number,
true love told me to call,
True love smiled so sweetly,
true love was gentle,
True love was naive and simple,
Oh how I wish true love could find me once more,
But does true love really even exist?,
True love left me and came back different,
True love was now older,
true love was now in the 6th grade,
Now true love liked peanut butter and was tone deaf,
true love was athletic yet clumsy,
true love was popular but different,
then true love left once more,
Ok,
I'll lock the door this time
and maybe if you knock again
I just might open it,
but then again there’s not enough room at this table for true love,
But true love imposed it’s way once more into my life
as true love does,
Like that person at the party
that no one knows who invited
but is just there,
But as I look at true love now,
It was different,
True love smelled nice,
True love was way older now,
True love was funny,
True love was sarcastic and annoying,
True love and me were both taken
but true love asked me out,
And I gave true love another chance,
So once again true love was in my life
but true love may leave,
Yet it's welcomed to stay,
This time,
I'll make sure to leave the door cracked... just a little,
So that true love can peek in and stop by,
If true love wishes to find me once again,
As true love comes in many shapes and sizes,
I might not recognize true love at first,
But.... I'm not blind to true love,
...If it exists ;)
