True Me

There are days I try to figure out the real me
Everywhere I go I overhear people trying to devour my ability
Every day I fight to let them know I am free
No more trying to stop me because I'm the true me
Finding my way in life of where I stand
But fighting because I need my voice heard loud and clear
Why do you doubt my gifts and decide to not be my friend
But push me away and you stand far but you don't stand near
No longer will I weep because my fight is won
You can't step on me and think you can annihilate me
But know I stand vigorously and depending on
How I scrimmage it won't matter I will overcome
Now I will let you know I'm valuing the true ME
Because it took a while for my womanhood to appear
But guess what I admire and nurture the real me
Regardless of what people may think my voice they will hear
