True Poison
I've lived in a world of shadows,
Questioned God's word,
Been in the barracks,
Not for the good,
But for the broken.
I've been fighting,
The wrong fight.
I couldn't be grateful
for the ones I love
In their aquisition.
I have snarled my teeth
And bit my tongue till it bled red.
I never knew I could regret
The bullets of decisions I had.
I know I've been hurt,
But I snapped back and hurt.
I am human.
They are human.
We're all together,
Not one by one.
But I fought
And I clawed my way
To my own six foot grave.
I knocked on the devil's door.
I cried and cried.
I was breaking deep inside.
And when he sneered and didn't answer,
I turned to God, who'd been my origional prayer,
And realized the mournful deed I'd done.
I said I regretted nothing,
But the kindness they show me,
Makes me regret everything.
And I know that if I could turn back the clock,
I would not, because that final knock,
Gave me the answer I needed.--
I am not perfect,
I am neglected.
I am brandished and hardened
I am tired.
This is this.
Humanity.
And I regret nothing.
I regret everything.
