True Statement

So as I heard from another poet that, “it isn’t a poem until it's true”

Not to be a copycat, but  i guess this is my first poem

I started out writing when I was younger

When I was younger I sat by a window and gazed into the sun rise

Sun rises always had a way of lifting my spirits

My spirits were low, mother wasn’t in her right mind to lift them

Lifted myself high enough to pull through a line so deep

So deeply in love with poetry, more and more started to flow from under my feet like the salt water mixed sand at the beach

The beach collide with my mind and peace came about

Came about this strong and open minded free little girl

Little girl became a woman

A woman skipped some stages, left behind all of the things that made me immature

Immature to the heart, was ready for love

Love made me close my doors, fell for men when I wasn’t even able to stand on my own

My own, I, was on, my own,

My own for a long time

“Time heals all wounds” is what I grew up learning throughout life

Life is just beginning and i’ve been waiting for it to hit me harder than a train that’s been running for 40 minutes

40 Minutes is all it took

All it took was faith, it takes an open mind, a dark soul, and a spirit that’s been through some things to understand me.
