True You

Location

Filters mask our true faces,

Travel and filters matter less in far away places.

Take away all the edits,

Behind all the sarcastic wit,

You will find a young woman trying to make herself fit.

In small villages in barren places,

I saw people that despite pain kept smiles upon their faces.

No longer trying to mold myself to fit a caste,

My true identity was revealed at last.

Caring, compassionate, perseverant and true,

I looked into the mirror and said "This is the real you."
