Trumpet of a girl

Hush little girl.

So I’ve been told

Not to push me down but to help me learn and grow

Don’t laugh too loud and go play games elsewhere.

That elsewhere became the field; marching band became my game of choice

It helped me to learn and grow

So I have told

But there I disobeyed what I have been told; no more hushed little girl.

I played loud and everywhere

I had learned and grew.

So I will tell.

Bold little girl.

Bold little girl!

So I will tell

I learned how to grow from my hushed little girl self.

I played loud, trumpet in hand I became louder, bolder on my own time and in my own ways

I no longer had to hush. I had grown into the girl that no longer had to hush. I had grown from the little girl who had to play quietly to the girl who has to play the trumpet to be the girl who no longer has to hush.
