Trust
Guy friends always question why I ask and I always simply say:
“I really value your friendship and would hate for that to go away.”
But if we're being honest here, which is what poetry is for,
I'm honestly actually terrified you'll drop our friendship at the door.
I worry once I open up and trust that is when you'll go.
It's happened to me once before and it's just too personal to let you know.
I was young and small and despite what I may say;
That man gave me an emotional scar that will take time to fade away.
I promise I am trying and I do my best to always be strong.
And sometimes all it takes is a hug from a friend to make that hurt me gone.
So for those of you who stayed and have been true to being my friend.
I really have to thank you for showing me “goodbye” isn't how all relationships end.
