Trusting Change

They tell me that I'm too much

But what am I too much?

They hand out lies like cards

They tell us to move, to travel

But what could be more exciting,

Than a home found right here?

I cannot express how much opinion doesn't matter

My brother, you are daring

My sister, you are caring

Don't replay their words

Please, recognize this:

You are dreaming,

Living in a realistic hell--

But just listen to your heart

And don't you dare

Challenge God's hand beyond repair

They want us to twitch like clocks

But what happens when we stop?

They pass around change like joints

They tell us to amend, to alter

But what could be more amazing,

Than a heart still beating?

I know better than the words they repeat forever

My brother, you are strong

My sister, you are a song

Don't trace their thoughts

Please, recognize this:

You are sobbing,

Cursing at the sky--

But just listen to your heart

And don't you dare

Challenge God's hand beyond repair

Someday they will understand

They are the ones who reject us

The past blew away all of your innocence

But look at what we have left

I miss my brother

I miss my sister

We cause others to see blind

Tell me now,

How can you have faith in

The ones who demand us to change?

Please, recognize me:

I could change,

I could relive--

But I'd rather listen to my heart

I would bring them back

And trust in God again
