The Truth

You can do anything.

You’ve heard it a million times.

The reality of it diminishes

Like a repeated song, slowly wasting away

Your patience.

Confidence is the key to the universe.

Yeah, sure, that sounds about right.

I’ll remember that next time.

Until Fear creeps in and snatches that confidence

Which opens up a place for

You to put your own self-made insecurities.

The only thing the Cowardly Lion wanted

Was courage.

It took him: a trip to Oz,

An encounter with the Wicked Witch,

And a few friends,

To realize that he had courage

The whole time.

We don’t have to go to such extremes

To see that everybody has courage,

It’s just, that,

The problem is,

Not everybody sees the potential of their own courage.

Courage stands quietly in the back our minds

With its hands clasped, waiting patiently for us to

Discover its real strength.
