The Truth

I am 17 years of knowledge
Knowledge that reaches me over time
As the minutes pass
As the hours pass
As the days pass
I am recieving this knowledge
It opens my eyes wider and wider
Yet it closes my mouth tighter and tighter
I am afraid to speak
To move my tongue with words we all know
But are just afraid to say
Why is that?
I am latina
But there's more to me than just my "attitude" and my curly hair
Why are we so afraid?
To admit where we come from
We are all cells and skin
Let's stop hiding from within
