The Truth

How can you tell me you love me, And then not trust a word that I say? One day it’s perfectly sunny, The next day is rainy and gray. First you’re a dangerous storm, Then your rainbow comes out. You’re a child who mostly smiles, But has a powerfully evil pout. You have found a way to possess me, But I have not found the way to escape. You tell me to just be myself, But you’ve molded me into your shape. Please tell me this won’t go forever, I need to know there’s an end. Everything we had is collapsing, For I have no more strength to pretend. I don’t have the strength to leave, I have one thing to ask if I stay: How can you tell me you love me, And then not trust a word that I say?
