A Truth
I am the hand
The builder, destroyer
I am your surgeon, your doctor, your lawyer
I wrote the laws that defined bad and good
I forged pacts and bathed in Caesar’s blood
I brought music from the most primitive man
I gave rise to the pyramids from the gold, barren sand
I made the strokes you now know as Mona Lisa
I sweated over the foundation of the Leaning Tower of Pisa
I crafted Shakespeare, Alexandre the Great
I dreamt the ruling that defined the Black Man’s fate
I loaded the first musket, fired on the first man
I am the reason the disabled can stand
I am the hand a Blessing, a Curse
I abide by one law
For better or for worse
