The Truth

When the truth came to me,

She swiftly entered my room,

bringing with her a certain coldness.

She knew everything about me,

Almost as if she were my journal.

Along with her, came a sense of

Foreboding and worry.

She told me I was okay,

But she had something to show

Me.

She took me home,

And showed me a pretty girl.

It took me time to realize,

This young girl was me.

It seemed hard to believe

I was once so happy.

She told me it wouldn’t last forever,

This depression I was feeling.

This was simply proof

I could once again feel joy.

She took me to the future,

And showed me my new life.

One where I had children,

And much ecstasy in my day.

Again, she told me it wouldn’t last,

This sadness I still felt.

One day I would be happy

Without all this doubt.

I soon felt tears

Fall freshly down my face,

As I realized she was right.

All I had to do was change.
