The Truth
You want to know the truth?
The truth is that I love you, that I’ve known it since that night we drove down dirt roads in search of ourselves. The truth is that without you, a piece of me is missing. The truth is, it’s my fault we don’t talk anymore. The truth is I never should have let myself fall for you. But the truth is that I did. The truth is you’re the first person I’ve ever fallen that hard for and I’m afraid I’ll never let myself fall again. The truth is that I’m afraid to fall, the bigger they are the harder they fall and I’m truly afraid of what might happen if I ever fall again. The truth is that I hate myself. The truth is you deserve better than me. The truth is that when I look in the mirror I see a man who doesn’t even know who he is, I see a man who cannot be truthful with himself, I see a man who truly detests the way he looks. The truth is that I will probably always look like this. The truth is that no one will ever be able to love me because the truth is that I can’t even love myself. They say moving on will make things better and scars won’t ease the pain, but my mask is made from broken shards of my own heart and the fact of the matter is, that the truth hurts.
