The Truth About Poetry

Paper is the greatest listener.

No matter when, no matter where

If I need to speak, paper is there

With naught but pen, I write my thoughts

To express myself, these emotions forth brought.

A quiet place with space so plenty,

My imagination is not empty.

The opposite holds true, it is so full,

just look deeper into the reflective pool.

Poetry is a world of self-expression waiting

For your hand to start dictating

How you scratch your stories true

Into the blank canvas there before you.

The beauty of poetry comes from it's nature.

It can be as simple or complex as the feelings of it's creator.

The words that are there upon the sheet

serve a different purpose to each it meets.

The most important that poetry has imparted

Is that my journey has only just started.

My heart and mind are always growing,

the river of thought is always flowing.

So take a minute of your day

To write your feelings out someway.

The effects of this can only be beneficial,

This profound self-therapy is not superficial.
