The Truth About Writing

Souls are to life as wood is to fire

Waiting for it to spark them alive

They’re looking to acquire

Imagination, something to talk about.

For some though, writing is easier

Spoken words trip their tongues

And make them sound cheesier,

Communicating on paper is more eloquent

Less time consuming,

For moments spent finding the right words

Are better spent blooming

Into written inspiration

Learning to express oneself

Is freeing in the best way,

Like discovering new wealth

And an important life lesson,

All in one fell swoop.

The pen is sharper than tongue

Can knock you through a loop

Or cut through the gibberish

Writing can be learnt,

At grandmother’s knee

Or from hopeful songwriters who weren’t

Even from others work.

It can lift weight off shoulders

Ease life’s heavy burdens,

Even knock down boulders

And construct daydreams.

Sparks of life aren’t planned

They’re simply reacted to,

It can be hard to understand

But writing opens up the world.
