Truth and Lies

The eyes,
they tell no lies
and you cannot run
from their truth.

Those feelings you feel,
you cannot hide from
for they will always
be a part of you
your essence,
your soul.

The language of the eyes
all their own
they speak volumes
of which only your inner self
could know.

The eyes
they are so bright
a language
of untold wisdom

Look into your eyes
and the eyes of others
and trust them
listen to them
and they will show you the way.

All they ask is that you listen.
Listen to the voice inside you.
That little voice
that tells you when something's wrong
it will keep you from harm.

All that we feel
is conveyed through them
all that we see and feel
goes through them

My eyes
so gentle, so kind
at times
and so hardened and bitter
at others
Two halves fighting to be whole again.

They are connected
the two wolves
vying for power.

But the eyes show the truth
the goodness inside
because kindness and compassion
are not weakness
they are goodness.

For they have the power
to heal and soothe
if you can unlock
the goodness
the compassion within.

The unspoken words of the souls...
can rot from the inside
their words
begging to be set free.

Wrapped in the fold of the mind
Deep within the subconcious
they must be set free

Reflecting our innermost selves
Reflecting our past,
our deeds.

The messages of our past
our lives
the things we don't want to know inside.

A portrait that changes through time.
the eyes of a child
once so innocent and bright,
became angry and embittered
screaming in the darkness.

The tides of change
ebb and flow,
twisting about
trying to locate her.

Her eyes tell a story
of abuse
betrayal
and pain

The hidden heart's unknown,
locked tightly away
and the key thrown
far into the depths of the future.

Spoken aloud
the pain is too much
kept silent and buried down
it is tolerable.

But like all secrets,
it must be let out,
it must be set free.

Hello, my name is Anne-Marie. Welcome to my profile. I like to think of myself as a writer and advocate for mental health and invisible illnesses. Part of me struggles with my faith on a daily basis because of my sexual orientation. So a lot of my poetry is about coping with that and my health on a day-to-day basis. I don't define myself with my sexual orientation or my health struggles but they are a part of me; there's no denying that. I love to write dark science fiction about dystopic futuristic landscapes. I like to write strong female leads with a lot of emotion and feeling to them. I truly live, breathe, and enjoy writing. Thank you for reading this
