Truth Behind those Lines

The words between my eyes, the words within my heart

Did not come to pass with just a mere thought

It was those before me who set a path

Lit a fire in the dark that started a wild fire deep in my heart

Words that carry power, words that carry life

Words that make me cry and give a new perspective to life

Love, sex, career, money, spirituality

All spindled together shaping my reality

Behind the words of these poems

Making me realize my culture, my sense of identity.

Truthfully, I missed my way along the road

Forgettng who I was as I stared at people's pictures on my phone

Scrolling and scrolling, viewing fake smiles, fake hair, fake lives

Not being able to pick the flowers from the weeds

Missing oppurtunities only found when I sit and read

I am thankful for the poets who spoke for people like us

Those of us who fear what men has to say about our controversial thoughts

Thank you  for your time, thank your for your mind

Those simple lines of yours has fully changed my life!
