Truth Found in a Book

Dear Book,

Read me a book I said,

So I will feel enjoyment before bed.

Teach me to read a book I said,

So I can learn life on my own.

I will read this book I said,

to understand who I am.

Write me a book I said,

and I will learn all that you know.

I will write this book I said,

to help change the world.

My books I loved  I did,

They gave me wisdom that others knew not.

They burnt my books they did,

with flames of fear and hate.

I tried to fight them off with books I did,

but their actions were stronger than my words.

I put this book down I did,

for no knowledge can be spread with"Read me a book I said".
