The Truth of the Matter...

The truth of the matter was that I was in her shadow

The truth of the matter was that I was mad at everybody, her her her.

She wanted me to change for her

I fooled everybody, except myself.

The truth of the matter was that I needed to find my own voice and have my own spotlight

I was in a constant spin cycle of feeling trapped by her and her ever growing spotlight

I guess how I found my own voice was being inspired by my first love

The truth of the matter was that he knew what bullshit I was going through because of her

He inspired me to write and I am so blessed

Blessed because he was the one at the end of the day who cared

Blessed because he introduced me to  some amazing poets

Blessed because he was the one who took the pain away

I guess the real truth of the matter was that I was enraged by her, but at the end of the day I found refuge in writing and was inspired by life

The truth of the matter is that I am me... and I'm not changing... for anyone.. not even for my sister.
