Try

Those things staring at me

Penetrate so deeply

The power of girls’ eyes

Will bring pain and torture to most guys

But if you said, “I claim you mine”

Then these verses wouldn’t be so hard to rhyme

I don’t know if it’s the light of the fire

That gives me the desire

But the thought of us taking hands

Brings feelings that I can’t understand

Because if it’s a cold goodbye

Sometimes those are the only feelings that survive

I have got to try.
