Tuesday

I know that there are no gods

because none of my prayers have been answered,

and you asked me to kiss you,

but you kissed her at that party last night.

It is not miraculous

when my bamboo plant flourishes even

after I forget to water it for two weeks, and

I wasn’t surprised when I

opened my front door and was greeted by

a bouquet of sunflowers.
