Turmoil/Truth

To every kid who is questioning and

Who is trying to find who they are—

I feel you, my dude, and I know what it’s like

The confusion and tension and scars

I’ve been caught in the crossroads of female and male

It’s all way more complex than it seems

And it aches not to know what I am, or what’s right

And it’s hell to be torn, by all means

And besides, that is only a part of the story

Of what there’s to worry about

Are you gay—are you straight—are you pan—are you ace—

Are you dying to figure it out?

The internal division and turbulence grinds

As you silently weigh right and wrong

Are you scared that you won’t get the answer you want?

Or afraid it’s been true all along?

Yet amid all this mess and this turmoil, still

There is peace to be found deep within

Just stop listening to the flawed voice of the world

Your existence is never a sin

And God loves you no matter what answers you find

’Cause God loves every person God made

And this journey is so much more meaningful than

All the quick, easy answers you crave

So keep searching for truth and for pure, honest living

In time, you will find what you need

All the answers will come in the timing they choose

Truth will come and it will set you free
