Turned Around
In a world so cruel, so cold, so bitter. My poems speak words my mouth can't speak, my lips won't move, from fear, from unacceptance, from being shut out. I remember that day I stared at the world I thought had turned its back on me. I felt the anger in the way the the sun aimed its bright rays against the windows of mean looking buildings sending reflections of rage glaring from my tearful eyes. I heard the sadness in the songs of crows decorating faded sidewalks with their black notes of sorrow emptying their cries into the urban polluted air with despair and my own misery as I tried so hard to hide the pain I smelled the aroma of trees blowing their temper against the winds of battered treatment as their branches of protection swung their fists against a challenge named abuse; a fight I found myself losing by an insurmountable margin Then I wondered..if anyone even cared about me, did anyone even see me sitting alone there? so alone in a world that forgot my name and treated me so unfairly with nowhere to turn no one to blame I exposed myself to my own brutality; It was me who allowed the litle things in life get to me and flat line my ego; It was me who allowed the visions of judgement to take homage in my soul; and it was me who held up a guard and didn't allow anyone past the gates of my heart; You see, as I looked out at the world through different awakened eyes I realized it was all me..yes, it was I, who turned my back on me.
